Audiologist of the Year 2019

A leading industry competition is open for entries as the public across Europe are asked to nominate candidates for the title of ‘Audiologist of the Year 2019’.

Patients are invited to nominate their hearing practitioner and describe the difference they have made to their lives. These stories highlight and celebrate top audiologists in both public and private sector settings who go above and beyond to provide exceptional, often life-changing care for their patients.

The annual competition, now in its twelfth year, is organised by Rayovac, a world-leading hearing aid battery manufacturer*, in partnership with Audio Infos, a leading international hearing publication for the audiology industry, the European Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (EHIMA) and the European Federation of Hard of Hearing People (EFHOH).

Paula Brinson-Pyke, Marketing Director at Rayovac said: “The competition has grown considerably over the past 11 years. To date, in addition to the 11 overall European winners, more than 270 audiologists across Europe, including 70 country winners have been recognised for their exceptional work, by their patients and the hearing industry.

“Each year we receive a high volume of entries showcasing the myriad of ways that audiologists are going well beyond what would be expected in their delivery of service, support and care to their patients. The result is a huge impact on people’s lives. The competition is a great way for patients to be able to say ‘thank you’ to these dedicated and passionate professionals.”

The winning audiologist will not only find themselves recognised by some of the most prominent organisations in the hearing industry; they will receive a prize of £250 along with a generous PR package to help them promote their practice or department, taking home the prestigious title of ‘Audiologist of the Year 2019’ and receive a year’s free subscription to Audio Infos. The patient who submits the winning entry is also eligible for a cash prize and gift bundle worth almost £500.

Winner of the 2018 Audiologist of the Year competition, Benjamin Schadow, owner of Hörstil in Erfurt, Germany impressed the judges with his use of innovative technology, including 3D printing to devise bespoke hearing solutions for his clients.

Speaking about the impact the award has made on his practice, Mr Schadow said: “Winning the Audiologist of the Year has made a big impact on the whole team at Hörstil GmbH & Co. KG. Being recognised for our work by our patients, our peers in the industry and the EHIMA was a huge honour.

“The local and national media interest generated by us winning the title, along with the PR package we won has helped us to gain wider recognition in our area. This has contributed to an increase in new customers as more people are hearing about the practice.”

Individual country winners, chosen by an independent panel of industry professionals will be announced in September this year. These will then compete for the coveted title of Audiologist of the Year which will be awarded to the top candidate at the prestigious ‘Evening of Excellence’ in October at the EUHA in Nuremberg, Germany.

General Secretary of EHIMA, Dr Stefan Zimmer, said: “We’re proud and excited to be supporting the Audiologist of the Year again in 2019. The competition is an opportunity to showcase the exceptional talent and dedication that exists on an individual country level, as well as Europe-wide amongst audiology professionals. The stories received from patients are always very inspiring and we are sure this year will yield another bumper crop!”

Judges are looking for examples of remarkable practice by audiologists who have made an outstanding contribution to the hearing industry, changing their patient’s lives by providing exceptional care, partnering with other professionals to achieve better outcomes and finding ways to use and share new technologies.

The competition will close on 1st July 2019 and is open to entries from the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. For more information or to download promotional materials please visit: http://www.audiologistoftheyear.eu
